The arrival of the Hinghwa people from the FuPuXian region in Spain is a relatively recent phenomenon. Unlike the pioneers who migrated to Nanyang from the 19th century onwards, they began arriving in Spain around the 1980s, when China was opening its doors to the outside world.

Their establishment of the Lanzarote FuPuXian Association (西班牙兰萨罗特岛福莆仙同乡会) reflects the tradition of similar hometown associations founded by their compatriots in Nanyang, which serve and unite people from the same place of origin.

The founder and current president is Mr. She Yutang (佘玉堂), while the Secretary-General is Mr. Chen Haiwu (陈海武). Together, they have demonstrated remarkable generosity by supporting people in Spain during times of crisis, including devastating floods and wildfires. They have also assisted in coordinating humanitarian aid from China for distribution to the affected local communities.

One of their prominent member was Wang Jianguo (王建国), whose ancestry was from Beipan Village, Jiangdou. He was a hotel developer in Spain and had also served as chairman of the Spanish FuPuXian Association.

In addition to their active leadership of the Lanzarote FuPuXian Association, they also play an active role in the Mazu Temple (ASOCIACIÓN CULTURAL MAZU EN ESPAÑA), promoting the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Hinghwa people in Spain.
