The Guardians of Hinghwa Heritage recognition was established, after a twenty years study, to honour individuals whose dedication, service, and contributions have strengthened the preservation, continuity, and advancement of Hinghwa culture, history, and community life.

As one of the smallest Chinese sub-ethnic groups, the Hinghwa people have endured and flourished through resilience, enterprise, scholarship, and a strong sense of collective responsibility. This recognition affirms that heritage is not preserved by chance, but through the conscious stewardship of individuals who care deeply about its continuity. The three categories of awards, Honourable, Distiguished, and Guardian were carefully crafted to represent the degree of their contribution and importance.

Honourable Guardian of Hinghwa Heritage is conferred upon individuals whose lifetime achievements, leadership, and unwavering commitment have made an extraordinary and lasting impact on the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Hinghwa heritage.
 

Distinguished Guardian of Hinghwa Heritage is conferred upon individuals who have made exceptional and transformative contributions to the preservation, institutional strengthening, and long-term advancement of Hinghwa heritage.

Guardian of Hinghwa Heritage is conferred upon individuals whose contributions -- whether cultural, intellectual, organisational, or material -- have meaningfully advanced the Hinghwa community and safeguarded its legacy for future generations.

Criteria

Recipients are evaluated based on the following considerations:
